What began more than a couple of decades ago as a small, cutting-edge theater located in a downtown basement underneath a Chinese food place has grown into one of the city’s most vibrant and popular performance venues. Stages pulls these crucial goals together by presenting new pieces almost always in a provocative and experimental manner. Working with groups like Catastrophic Theatre, this approach has helped Stages grow a devoted audience that keeps coming back for that karmic connection that they feel to the performances. And Stages now has a great space right off of Allen Parkway - no dank basement here.
